outcaribe, May 11, 2024May 11, 2024

At a private villa in Montego Bay, Jamaica Jerrie Johnson who plays the character Tye Reynolds on the American comedy television series recently announced her engagement on Instagram to Creative Producer Dria Brown.

Through stunning photos on her Instagram, Jerrie showed how she popped the question to her Lady love, Dria with champagne, and lots of laughter with the backdrop of a private villa in the hills. Congratulations Jerrie and Dria!!

We at OutCaribe are huge fans of Harlem and Jerrie, so we are extra frickin excited that she chose to get engaged in Jamaica, our home base, where Queer Culture has grown exponentially over the last decade. There is a fresh wave of openness and respect in Jamaica and across the Caribbean especially in the Entertainment and Tourism Industries. It’s not perfect as nowhere is, but it’s so, so much better and trending in the right direction.

As previously reported Jamaica here ‘‘Gay Tourists Welcome’ – JTB Head Says Perception About Jamaica Being Hostile Is Wrong and Jamaica Growing More Tolerance Towards LGBT Community, Survey Shows – Westmoreland Ranked Most Tolerant Parish. Added to that the local Queer Culture continues to grow with new and establish Queer entertainment brands, queer-friendly hotels, villas, restaurants, bars, beaches, and parties. And Jerrie should know, that she also been to Jamaica Carnival with Ebony Magazine last year.

Additionally for all of you who need to be caught on Jerrie’s Show Harlem, here is a snippet from Deadline.com “Harlem is a comedy following four best girlfriends in Harlem NYC, the mecca of Black culture in America, starring Meagan Good as “Camille,” Grace Byers as “Quinn,” Shoniqua Shandai as “Angie,” Jerrie Johnson as “Tye,” and Tyler Lepley as “Ian”. In season two, after blowing up her career and disrupting her love life, Camille had to figure out how to put the pieces back together. Tye tried to figure out how to make meaningful connections while navigating a nasty divorce. Quinn sought out balance as she rode the emotional roller coaster of life, and Angie looked for luck at every turn as she tried to find her place in the world. Together, the women continued to level up into the next phase of their careers, relationships, and big city dreams.”

Harlem was created and executive-produced by Tracy Oliver. It premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 3, 2021. In February 2022, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on February 3, 2023. In December 2023, the series was renewed for a third season.

We luv this shit! We love this bish! Carry On Ladies! Invite us to the wedding!
